Matches from today bring mixed results

Today was filled with expectations and excitement with the start of the tournament.  As expected, the first match went our way with a 12-0 win.  The girls started slowly, but eventually prevailed.  This helped with the confidence and helped with getting ready for the next match which they knew would be tough.  Earlier on in the day, KZN has narrowly lost to WP B 4-5.  Most of the other U14 matches have been somewhat one-sided with Gauteng, KZN and WP A and WP B being the better teams.

The afternoon session saw the girls playing a feisty team from KZN who didn't give up at all and they managed to scrape a 5-5 draw, scoring in the last second.  Our girls definitely had the upper hand most of the match, but just couldn't convert some chances and unfortunately could not keep the last 2 goals out.  Our girls equipped themselves admirably and hopefully this will provide them with some confidence going into the even tougher match with WP B tomorrow afternoon.

Bonding up a Storm

Well tonight the girls, and their parents, got together to do some pre-tournament bonding and boy did they bond up a storm, in more ways than one.  The rain came down and there was loads of thunder and lightening, but the noise from the girls drowned out and drove away the thunder.  Shreeks of laughter could be heard around the neighbourhood as the girls got to know each other better in a social setting.  It was great having the parents around as well sharing their experiences and getting to know each other better as well.  There were a couple of missing faces - Zandi and Shan - we missed you.

Training at Saints

Today was a beautifully hot day and a good one to get some last minute training in.  The girls had some good water time playing against the U14 Northerns team, who is in their pool for SA Schools as well as the U15B Gauteng girls.  Every girls got some time to show off their various skills.

Capping Ceremony

Last night our girls attended the official capping ceremony where they received their Gauteng Colours.  They all looked very smart in their various school uniforms.  Our girls are ready to "kick some butt" in the pool now, thanks to their great coach, Kieren.
